Sunday Oliseh to drop striker for 2018 World Cup qualifiers

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh is reportedly drop striker Emmanuel Emenike for Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland in November.

The Fenerbahce striker-on-loan-at UAE has not scored for Nigeria in two years and has also not impressed Oliseh in the four games has been in-charge.

According to an African Football source,: “Oliseh is disappointed Emenike has not justified the confidence he has in him.

“He has been given his chance by the coach, who is now seriously considering Odion Ighalo to lead his attack against Swaziland next month.”

MLS based Nigerian striker, Obafemi Martins could be set for a recall to replace Emenike.

The Seattle Sounders striker last played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria a 2013 in FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kenya.

Sunday Oliseh according to another report is considering Martins to provide stiffer for the likes of Odion Ighalo and Emenike.

Nigeria will take on Swaziland for a place in the third round of the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign between November 9 and 17.
