Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis had one of the days to forget as Watford fell to a heavy defeat away at league leaders Manchester City.

City ran up a 5-1 victory over the relegation-threatened Watford side with Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus being the star of the match with four (4) goals.

Nigeria's Emmanuel Dennis grabbed an assist for Watford's solitary goal as the 25-year-old continues to impress despite Watford's woes.

Watford fall to Gabriel Jesus' miracle

Watford made the difficult trip to the Etihad Stadium to face a City side under pressure from the chasing Liverpool side.

It took just four minutes for Pep Guardiola's side to find the breakthrough, Jesus getting on the end of Oleksandr Zinchenko's assist to give City the lead.

Jesus doubled his and City's goal tally in the 23rd minute before also turning provider for Rodri in the 34th minute to complete an absolutely stunning first half for the Brazilian international.

The 25-year-old striker struck again another four minutes into the second period, completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot. 

Jesus' 53rd-minute goal completed the Brazilian's four-goal haul for the afternoon, meaning he had a hand in all five (5) City goals against Watford.

Emmanuel Dennis sets goals' record at Watford

Emmanuel Dennis was also involved in the goals at the Etihad Stadium, grabbing the assist for Hassane Kamara's consolation goal for Watford in the 28th minute.

Dennis' assist against City took his goal involvement tally for Watford this season to 10 goals and six (6) assists.

This means the Nigerian striker has had a hand in exactly 50% (16) of Watford's goals (32) in the Premier League for the 2021/22 season. 

Dennis also gave an all-round performance against Guardiola's side, recording one (1) shot on target, two (2) key passes, one (1) big chance created, three (3) clearances, two (2) interceptions, and two (2) tackles. 

Watford remain rooted to 19th on the Premier League table, now seven (7) points adrift Everton in 17th position despite having played two games more than the Merseyside club.
