Elche Offer Little and Celta Even Less in Drab Goalless Stalemate

Elche remain just one point above the La Liga relegation zone after being held to a 0-0 draw at home against Celta Vigo. The hosts dominated possession in the first half, coming close as early as the ninth minute when Javi Galan struck the woodwork with a dangerous effort. The visitors offered very little going forward before the break, with no other clear-cut chances created in a cagey opening 45 minutes.

Celta broke up the tempo early in the second half with a series of tactical fouls. The home side registered a few more attempts, but none caused serious problems for Radu. In total, the match produced only two shots on target, both credited to the hosts.

Late on, Driouech had a glorious opportunity to snatch all three points for the visitors, but failed to find the target.

A goalless stalemate was a fair reflection of an uneventful encounter. Both sides have managed just one victory each since the start of the campaign, leaving Celta in ninth place and Elche sitting 17th, separated by just two points in the table.
