Ducati factory team manager Davide Tardozzi is fully convinced that Aprilia will eventually introduce MotoGP team orders to support Jorge Martin in his championship battle against Marc Marquez.

Following the Indonesian Grand Prix, reigning champion Marquez trails championship leader Martin by just two points. Tardozzi spoke candidly about the situation, telling Sky Italia: "It makes complete sense... I would do the same."

At Mandalika, Marquez and Ducati struck an unexpected blow against the dominant Aprilia outfit, capitalizing on a Turn 1 incident and tyre pressure issues for Martin to win Saturday's Sprint. That victory pushed Marquez to the top of the standings for the first time this campaign.

Aprilia fought back emphatically in Sunday's main race, securing the top four positions for the first time in their history, while Marquez could only recover to sixth. Ducati's damage could have been heavier, but Martin crossed the line in third behind Marco Bezzecchi and Raul Fernandez.

"Arriving two points behind Martin and leaving with the exact same two-point gap is a success for us. The real problem lies in the fact that Aprilia demonstrated clear superiority, especially at this track," Tardozzi stressed. "I have absolutely no doubt that Aprilia will sooner or later issue team orders. It seems completely right and justified to me, and I would do the exact same thing," the Ducati boss added.
