Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone will be staying with the Spanish Champions till 2020 after agreeing to a three year extension.

The Argentine who has been linked to replace Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City will now stay in Spain until 2020 and pledged to help the club cement their position back among Europe's elite.

"I have chosen to be here because I am convinced the club will continue to grow," Diego Simeone who led Atletico Madrid to the final of the UEFA Champions League last told, said in a news conference.

"Because it is strong, there is enthusiasm and there are people here whose desire to participate is stronger each day," added the 44-year-old Argentine.

Diego Simone has also won UEFA Europa League, European Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup and a Copa del Rey for the Spanish club.
