Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is currently the toast of the English media after scoring a fantastic goal on his first England start.

The 19-year-old had his debut in October but has been in the news all week after his impressive performance against Spain last week.

These are five things you should about the England rave of the moment.

1. He is Nigerian

Full name Bamidele Jermaine "Dele" Alli, the midfielder was born to Nigerian parents in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom on April, 11, 1996.

2. First Club

Alli started playing football at the age of 11 in the youth system at Milton Keynes Dons and broke into the first team five years later, during the 2012-13 season.

3. Break-out year

His break-out year came in 2014 when he marshaled and controlled the midfield MK Dons’  4-0 home win over Manchester United in August, 2014. His performance earned him plaudits from every pundit in the game and led to comparison with Steven Gerrard.

4. Premier League move

Alli made his Premier League move to Tottenham in February 2015 for an initial fee of £5 million on a five-and-a-half-year deal. He however stayed on loan at MK Dons for the remainder of the season.

5. England debut

After turning down an opportunity to play for Nigeria, Alli was invited to the England national team and made his debut against Estonia in October, 2015 coming on as a late substitute for Ross Barkley in a 2–0 win.
