EFCC grills former immigration boss

Reports say the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) quizzed the former Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS),  Mr. David Parradang, for more than 7 hours.

Punch Newspapers reports that Parradang was quizzed about the revenue generated from the sale of forms for the NIS recruitment exercise.

The report also said that the NIS allegedly remitted N45m out of over N600m generated from the sale of forms.

An EFCC source who spoke to Punch said “Operatives of the commission are interrogating the former Comptroller General, Immigration, Mr. David Paradang. The man was invited and he came on his own and he was immediately ushered into the interrogation room. No, he was not arrested."

Adding that “Operatives are interrogating him in relation with the Immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of many innocent Nigerians in 2014. The commission is probing the disappearance of N600m that was received from the applicants."

“There is this report that those who carried out that exercise declared only N45m out of the N600m they collected. We want to know where the remaining N555m is,"  the source said.

The EFCC spokesperson, Mr.Wilson Uwujaren confirmed to Punch via telephone, saying “He was invited and he came."

You will recall that officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service exonerated their former boss, David Parradang of any wrong doing.
