UFC President Dana White has once again shown his philanthropic side.
On February 10th, Canada experienced its deadliest mass shooting since 2020. The tragic incident occurred at Tumbler Ridge High School in British Columbia, where an assailant killed six people and injured 27 others before taking his own life.
Among the 27 injured was Maya Gebala, a 12-year-old student who sustained gunshot wounds to her head and neck. Gebala remains in critical condition at Vancouver Children's Hospital, having undergone multiple surgeries and facing complications from her injuries. Her family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds, but on Wednesday, they revealed (via TMZ Sports) that the UFC president learned of their plight and stepped in to cover all expenses. This includes Maya's transportation to Los Angeles once her condition stabilizes.
“After a week in the ICU, UFC President Dana White reached out to us. He offered to fully cover Maya's medical care at one of the world's top hospitals, located in Los Angeles, California. For those who watch UFC – they even displayed my little girl's name in the octagon. It was incredible. The Children's Hospital has an excellent brain injury clinic and many resources. However, until now, Maya wasn't stable enough to travel. But she is now.”
