Your love for God is enough
What does it really take to be a good daughter/son, Christian?
Do you need to sacrifice your all, kill animals, ignore your family and spend all your time in church?
Many people try to understand loving God by the way we love others or the way humans demand for love.
Today, the Bible is telling us that God only wants one thing and that is our love.
Hosea 6:6 tells us that God does not want our sacrifices, and offerings, He only asks that we love and know Him.
"I don’t want your sacrifices—I want your love; I don’t want your offerings—I want you to know me."
Deuteronomy 10:12 adds, "And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul."
What does it mean when you love God?
It means you serve Him, worship and keep His commandments because you only seek to please Him and make Him happy.
No one can say that they truly love God if you continue to do things that displease Him.
Why should we love Him?
1 John 4:19-20 answers this question saying, "We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen."
Whatever you do as a requirement of Christianity without true love for God in your heart is a waste of time.
Without love, you might as well not pretend to be a Christian because God is love.
"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him." - 1 John 4:16
Joshua 23:11 then says, "So be very careful to love the LORD your God."
Let us strive to remember what is needed and important, and that is pure, unadulterated love for God, our Father in Heaven.
