Brazil Moves one place as Nigeria edges on to 44

Ahead of the Brazil 2014 World Cup, the Federation of International Football Associations FIFA yesterday Thursday released its monthly rankings for every member country and as usual, there were drops from a higher position to the lower  while some others were awarded points from results in matches played within the period of the given month.

The results of 112 grade A international matches which included the 67 friendly matches, 26 continental qualifying matches in the African Confederation CAF, 16 from the Asian Confederation AFC and 3 games from the ; all played within the month of May.

The June ranking of the , is still unchanged at the top with Spain as the leaders and Germany following behind. However, the top ten position did have some changes as Greece dropped points from 10 th position to a current 12th.

The 2014 World Cup host Brazil will kick off their campaign from the 3rd position; they moved one place up at the expense of Portugal who are now 4th. Argentina is on 5th position, moving from 7th ahead of who also moved from 8th to a present 6th, England as well move one place up from a former 11th position to replace Greece at 10th.

The current FIFA ranking indicates the group strengths for for the World Cup teams, comprising and Italy and which has , , and are the strongest teams with at least two top ten teams. Group H , may be regarded as the weakest without the presence of any Top ten team in it.

the highest movers in the latest rating is Palestine which moved 71 places with 4 wins and one draw which earned them qualification into the AFC Challenge Cup billed to hold in Australia come January 2015.
