Crystal Palace has announced the signing of forward Xavier Gozo from MLS side Real Salt Lake for €13 million. The 19-year-old US youth international has penned a five-year deal with the Eagles and is expected to fill the void on the right wing left by Brennan Johnson's departure. Gozo also has experience playing further back on the right flank, a versatility that will benefit the London club following the exit of long-serving defender Nathaniel Clyne.
The American, who has represented his country at all youth levels up to U23, has scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists for the Salt Lake City team in Major League Soccer this season.
Xavier Gozo marks Crystal Palace's fifth summer acquisition, joining defenders Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu, and wingers Dwight McNeil and Anan Halaili. The South London outfit will kick off their Premier League campaign under new manager Pierre Sage with an away fixture against Everton on Saturday.
