Footballer's girlfriend confirms breakup

The representatives of Russian model, Irina Shayk have confirmed the end of her widely reported relationship with Portugal and Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The news of the split started making the rounds after the model was conspicuously missing at the 2014 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony where her football star boyfriend picked up his 3rd Best Player of the Year award.

According to reports, they broke up because the model declined to attend Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother’s 60th birthday party in his home town.

And now, a statement released by Irina representatives on the issue has confirmed the split: ‘We can confirm that Irina Shayk has ended her relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo. She has been very close to his family throughout their relationship. Any negative rumors about Irina and Ronaldo’s family are completely false and have not been a factor in the cause of the split. Irina has no comments at the moment.’ The relationship of the two former lovebirds was celebrated in the football/modelling/fashion world and they dated for over 5 years”.
