The Argentine driver joined the Enstone-based outfit at the start of 2025, initially as a reserve driver. Just six rounds into the season, he replaced Jack Doohan as a full-time driver, and despite a challenging campaign, he was retained for the dawn of Formula 1's new era.

Colapinto significantly improved his performance during the 2026 season, securing six points finishes to date, including his best race result in Canada, where he finished sixth. Given this surge in his driving prowess and the financial backing from Argentina, it comes as no surprise that Alpine opted to keep Colapinto in their lineup for the 2027 season. The Argentine racer will continue to partner with Pierre Gasly, who signed an extension with Alpine last September, keeping him with the team until the end of 2028.
