Former Napoli striker Claudio Bellucci has pitted two current Napoli forwards Victor Osimhen and Giacomo Raspadori against themselves.
The 47-year-old ex-Italy international weighed the advantages of both Osimhen and Raspadori to the Napoli team after both players' impressive start to the season.
Osimhen has had an encouraging start to the 2022/23 season, with four (4) goals in eight (8) matches already despite being injured for almost four weeks.
Raspadori plays with both feet - Bellucci
However, Bellucci believes that Italian forward Raspadori is more suited to Luciano Spalletti's Napoli side because of his ball-playing capabilities.
The one-time Cagliari assistant coach admitted that Raspadori often reminds him of his playing days due to their shared ability to use both feet.
Bellucci said on Calcio Napoli Live: "They tell me Raspadori plays like me, I like him, how he moves. He is doing very well, he is a natural with both feet.
“The return of Osimhen is a strong point, we have seen the anger with which he scored against Ajax. At the moment, I see Raspadori as more functional to what Spaletti wants because he makes the team play.”
Bellucci prefers Osimhen for counterattacks
However, Bellucci also noted that Osimhen is the better player when Napoli wants to play counter-attacking football because of the Nigerian's ability to press and attack from deep positions.
“Then if you want to defend yourself and start again from the back then Osimhen is perfect. I would always like someone like him who attacks from deep to be on my team,” Belluci stated.
Osimhen has scored two (2) goals in his last two matches for Napoli and he would be hoping to continue his scoring run when Napoli play AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, October 23.
