Chukwueze subbed off at half-time in frustrating performance for Villarreal
Villarreal won a difficult game away from home in the UEFA Europa Conference League 2-1 away at Hapoel Beer Sheva to maintain a 100% record in the competition so far.
Unai Emery's men took the lead after 28 minutes through Jose Luis Morales who converted from the penalty spot, firing straight down the middle.
Rotem Hatuel equalised for Hapoel Beer Sheva in the 63rd minute but it didn't last long as Alex Baena put Villarreal back in front four minutes later.
Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze played in the match but didn't have the kind of impact he would have hoped for at the Toto Turner Stadium in Beer Sheva.
Samuel Chukwueze's poor performance
Samuel Chukwueze started the game for Villarreal in his preferred right wing position but he failed to perform up to expectations and was taken off at half-time and replaced by Nicolas Jackson.
The Nigerian winger had 22 touches and completed nine of his 10 attempted passes but none of those threatened the opposition as he failed to record a single key pass.
In 45 minutes of play, Chukwueze failed to attempt a single cross or shot and he also didn't complete any of his two dribble attempts which is unusual for a player renowned for his skill.
The Super Eagles star also lost possession six times while failing to record any basic defensive stats in an ineffective performance that was cut short at half-time.
