According to Chukwu, though the Eagles were held to a 0-0 draw by the East Africans in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash in Dar es Salaam, it's better than a defeat.

Speaking to SuperSport, Chukwu said, “Well, the goalless draw is a better result than outright defeat. The Eagles side are new under a new coach, Sunday Oliseh. The result is quite good for the rebuilding process.

“At least Oliseh and his new wards have received their baptism. I know they will improve in the next matches.

“I’m really happy we did not lose because I was worried of the harsh weather and its impact on the team.

“It’s a fair result going forward in the qualification campaign,” said the former Nigerian strongman to supersport.com.

Nigeria now lead the group on four points while the Chad and Egypt clash comes up on Sunday in N’Djamena.
