Chelsea has reportedly had two consecutive bids for left-back Pep Chavarría rejected, according to local press. The Blues' initial offer of £15 million was turned down, followed by a second bid of £21 million, both immediately dismissed by the Spanish club. Rayo Vallecano has made it clear that the only way Chavarría will move to Stamford Bridge is if Chelsea meets his full release clause, valued at £42 million.
Sources close to the negotiations have described them as very challenging, with Rayo's representatives proving firm and unyielding. The 20-year-old Pep Chavarría is under contract with the Madrid club until the summer of 2030. Interestingly, Chelsea has already signed full-backs Marco Palestra from Atalanta and Giovani Cenda, spending over €100 million on the pair. Despite these acquisitions, the Blues are keen to strengthen significantly after selling Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid, especially as new manager Xabi Alonso is expected to implement a wing-back system.
