Bayern want Bassey for Sule as Chelsea target Rudiger replacement

According to Spanish publication outlet, Fichajes, Bayern want Bassey to replace Niklas Sule, who left the Bavaria giants this summer to join Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Chelsea see the Nigerian international as a potential replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Bassey's potential departure is highly unlikely as he only joined Rangers in 2020, with two years left on his contract. However, the Gers could be tempted to sell the youngster if they receive a suitable offer from any of his potential bidders.

Bassey's great season with Rangers

Chelsea and Bayern's interest in Bassey should not come as a surprise as the youngster was one of Rangers' best players in the just-concluded campaign.

Although he has been getting plaudits since the 2020/2021 season, Bassey fully broke out this season. The 22-year-old made 49 appearances for Rangers this season, with 26 in the Scottish Premiership.

Bassey played a key role in Rangers' run to the Europa League final with 13 appearances and one assist. Although Rangers came up short in the final against Eintracht Frankfurt, Bassey's performance was enough to earn him a place in the team of the season.

His impressive performance for Rangers also earned him a call-up to Nigeria's squad in 2021 before making his debut against Ghana in March.
