"He's a £20m player” - Rangers legend values Calvin Bassey highly

Former Rangers player values Calvin Bassey at a whopping £20 million and praises the club for signing him for free.

Rangers legend Neil McCann values Calvin Bassey as a 20 million-Pound player

Those displays have earned Bassey a higher football reputation and drawn more attention to him as he continues to shine on the biggest stage.

The latest of the plaudits came from an ex-Rangers player and current TV pundit, Neil McCann who weighed in on Calvin Bassey’s performances after the Scottish Cup final win against Hearts.

"He's a £20m player. Our game has been enhanced by how Rangers have performed in European football, Bassey has shone up brilliantly today and all season really," McCann said while running a post-game analysis on BBC.

The 47-year old who himself spent five years at Rangers during his playing days hailed the free signing of Calvin Bassey as good business by the club.

"The pieces of business that [former manager] Steven Gerrard and [sporting director] Ross Wilson have done – [Glen] Kamara, [Joe] Aribo, Bassey, nominal fees. [James] Tavernier as well, the impact is huge, McCann went on to add.

Those signings as listed by McCann have turned out to be brilliant pieces of business and will ultimately fetch the club a lot of money in transfer fees.

"What they've done in European football has shone a light on our game and if you want to come and buy one of our players, you have to spend as well. You can't disrespect it,” McCann said excitedly.

The Scotsman offered more insight on the club’s transfer policy going forward, "hopefully our game has been taken to a level where you want to recruit our players, you have to spend.”

McCann’s comments imply that Rangers are ultimately set to become a selling club as long as the players’ valuations are met which could mean a mass exodus is on the horizon at Ibrox Stadium.
