Chelsea Ahead of Liverpool in Race for Alex Scott

Chelsea lead the race to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who is also attracting keen interest from Liverpool and Arsenal. The Blues lodged a £64 million bid for the English midfielder back in the summer, only to see it rejected. While Bournemouth maintain that the 23-year-old is not going anywhere in January, that is unlikely to deter the London club from launching a fresh approach. Xabi Alonso has reportedly earmarked Scott as the ideal replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who was sold to Manchester City on deadline day.

Scott has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign and underlined his fine form once again during England's dominant victory over Croatia. He featured for 70 minutes in Rijeka, completing an eye-catching 97% of his passes.

Scott's current deal with Bournemouth runs until the summer of 2028. Former Cherries boss Andoni Iraola is also eager to bring him to Liverpool, although the Merseyside club currently appear more likely to pursue Monaco's Lamine Camara—another player Chelsea submitted an offer for late in the summer window.
