Besiktas face ban from UEFA for allowing cat on field in game against Bayern Munich
Turkish side
Bayern Munich defeated Besiktas 3-1 through goals by Thiago Alcantara, Sandro Wagner and an own goal by Gokhan Gonul.
During the second half of the encounter a cat was able to find its way on to the pitch, and UEFA has responded by charging the Turkish side.
Besiktas have hence been charged by UEFA for "insufficient organisation", and also "throwing objects and blocked stairways".
Match official for the game Michael Oliver stopped play in the second half, and play was halted for a moment until the cat was able to make its way off the pitch.
Bayern qualified to the quarter finals with the aggregate score 8-1, and after the game Bayern Munich fans of the German champions voted for the cat as the man of the match on the clubs social media platform.
Beskitas return to action to face Istanbul Basaksehir in a Turkish league game, while Bayern Munich travel to face RB Leipzig in their next Bundesliga league game.
Besiktas will defend their case before a UEFA disciplinary body on Thursday, May 31.
