Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has acknowledged that his side are facing a difficult spell, but insists they must pull through it together as a collective. The Red Devils currently sit 13th in the Premier League and have been winless domestically since late August, although their sole Champions League outing so far produced a comfortable 4-0 victory over Azerbaijani side Sabah. Tonight, Carrick's men face a far sterner test with a tricky trip to take on Atletico Madrid.
"I understand that when things aren't going your way, there's outside noise and a feeling that everything is wrong and needs to change. I understand that, but that is not our approach. To achieve anything, you have to be able to deal with adversity and overcome obstacles. That's part of the job," Michael Carrick said during his pre-match press conference. Manchester United have returned to the Champions League after a three-year absence, and following their clash in the Spanish capital, another away fixture awaits against Italian side Como on October 21.
