Carragher: Everyone Knows Martinez Didn't Deserve a Red Card

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher firmly believes that Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez should not have received a straight red card for pulling opponent Dominic Calvert-Lewin's hair during their 2-1 loss to Leeds.

“He was going for the ball and barely touched him. He tried to grab onto something and caught the end of his hair. It could have been hair or something else. He held him for about half a second. I don't think any fan, manager, or player thinks, 'That's a red card.' Everyone in the game looks at that and thinks, 'Come on, that's not a red card, behave yourself,'” Carragher commented on Sky Sports.

Former United captain Roy Keane also questioned the dismissal of the Argentine international, though he respected the referee's decision. “I can see both points of view, and when it's defined as violent conduct, that's too harsh. But we've seen other players sent off for that. It's strict, but if it's part of the rules, you have to accept it,” he stated.
