Bruno Fernandes cuts a frustrated figure following latest Man United setback
Bruno Fernandes was unable to hide his frustration following Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Tottenham at Old Trafford, with the captain's post-match behaviour sparking debate among Red Devils supporters. According to The Sun, the Portuguese midfielder was among the first players to leave the stadium, walking past waiting fans who were hoping to get autographs and photos. Some supporters even suggested Fernandes has lost faith in the squad, though his reaction could equally be put down to immense disappointment at letting victory slip away.
The United skipper endured a tough afternoon against Roberto De Zerbi's side. According to statistics cited by the British outlet, it took Fernandes 23 minutes to register his first successful pass of the game. During a heated second-half flashpoint, which saw players from both sides clash near the touchline following a confrontation between Rodrigo Bentancur and Luke Shaw, the Portuguese international steered well clear of the fracas and sat away from the rest of the players. Bentancur was ultimately sent off, leaving the Red Devils with a man advantage, yet they failed to secure all three points despite having taken the lead just five minutes earlier.
Bryan Mbeumo fired the hosts ahead in the 73rd minute, but Tottenham snatched a point through Dominic Solanke in the second minute of stoppage time. The result leaves Manchester United with just one win from their opening six league fixtures, languishing in 13th place. Michael Carrick's side now face a demanding Champions League trip to Atletico Madrid on 13 October, followed four days later by a fierce clash against rivals Leeds at Elland Road.
