A dinner by the Football Writers Association (FWA) was planned to host the football great but the 77 year old would not turn up, as he had to cancelled his trip to London this weekend due to his condition.

A statement by the FWA said "In the early hours of Thursday morning, Pele collapsed and was taken to hospital in Brazil where he has undergone a series of tests which appear to point to severe exhaustion."
