Rafael Camara's signing with Haas for the 2027 Formula 1 season means Brazil will feature two full-time drivers on the Grand Prix grid for the first time since 2016.

The Recife-born driver will join compatriot Gabriel Bortoleto, who represents Audi, giving the South American nation two permanent race seats in Formula 1 for the first time since the 2016 campaign.

Back then, Brazil's colors were defended by namesakes Felipe Massa and Felipe Nasr. Following Massa's retirement at the end of 2017, Brazil went without a full-time driver in F1 until Bortoleto's debut with Sauber at the start of 2025.

Camara will become the 34th Brazilian to compete in Formula 1. Rubens Barrichello holds the national record with 322 starts, while the country has produced three World Champions: Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet, and Ayrton Senna.
