Amar Dedic is en route to England to finalize his move to Newcastle. The 23-year-old right-back declined to speak with journalists in Tires but shared his emotional state as he bid farewell to the fans. “I love them,” he stated before entering the boarding area.
Newcastle will pay €35 million, as desired by Benfica, who will also retain a percentage of any future transfer sell-on clause.
During the pre-match press conference for the Casa Pia game, Marco Silva addressed the transfer.
“There’s nothing official regarding Dedic, but he will be out of the game, unlike before. As long as I had no indication from the club structure, he would have been involved. At this moment, he will be excluded from the squad, as he wasn’t part of the game preparation and negotiations are at an advanced stage. We didn’t want to lose Dedic, but regarding the financial aspect, the club knows best what to do, and that’s not my role. At Benfica, especially since he’s a young player who had a great season last year, we didn’t want to lose him, but it’s part of the open transfer market,” the coach affirmed.
Alexander Bah and Daniel Banjaqui are the available right-backs for Marco Silva.
