Bella Shmurda, Davido, and Other Celebrities Who Don’t Repeat Outfits
Afrobeats star Bella Shmurda recently stirred conversations online after admitting that he never repeats outfits he’s already been photographed in.
The ‘Cash App’ crooner revealed this during a recent interview, explaining that once he has rocked a look in public or on social media, it’s retired for good.
His confession reignited an age-old debate about celebrity fashion standards: Should public figures really be expected to wear something new every time they step out?
Many fans found the idea unnecessary and wasteful, arguing that repeating clothes shouldn’t be a problem, especially in an economy where most people can’t afford that kind of luxury. Others, however, defended the singer, saying the image is part of the brand.
Reactions:
Just Dey pressure yourself. Even Justin Bieber has a closet where he repeats casuals
Different strokes for different folks, do what works for you bro .
Na una dey pressure una self, not the fans
People see the glamour not the budget behind the brand.

Bella isn’t the first Nigerian celebrity to proudly embrace a no-repeat policy, and he’s unlikely \ to be the last. From artists to influencers, other stars have openly declared that once an outfit hits the timeline or red carpet, it’s officially retired.
Here are Nigerian celebrities who have admitted to never repeating their custom fits:
Davido
Afrobeats superstar Davido is one star known to splurge on designer clothes just as he spends on luxurious cars and watches. During an interview on The Fitting Room Talk Show in 2024, he shared his take on outfit repetition, revealing that while he may not repeat public or on-camera outfits, he does wear clothes multiple times at home.
“I really don't repeat clothes, but things I wear at home daily, with my wife and kids, I repeat. I don't repeat stuff that would be on camera, like what I'm wearing now, I don't repeat,” he explained.
Veekee James
It comes as no surprise that Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James does not repeat her custom designs.
In 2023, she stated that while it’s not a bad idea for celebrities to repeat their clothes, outfit repetition simply doesn’t fit into her brand. Speaking on her personal style, she explained:
I will not wear an outfit I have worn to an event to another event. That is because I am a fashion designer. Every time, I get to showcase another design.
Erica
In 2020, former BBNaija star Erica revealed the reasons why public figures often refuse to repeat their clothes, claiming that the fans would often point it out.
“Because you will complain,” she said in response to a fan’s query.
Laura Ikeji
In 2019, fashion entrepreneur and reality TV star Laura Ikeji openly admitted that she never repeats any of her outfits, especially once she’s been photographed wearing them. According to Laura, once a look hits the internet, she gives it away.
For celebrities, fashion isn’t just about self-expression; it’s a performance. With social media ready to dissect every aspect of their lives, many stars feel the need to constantly reinvent their looks. While fans might see “no outfit repeats” as glamorous, it also highlights the intense pressure public figures face to maintain appearances.
