The ‘Cash App’ crooner revealed this during a recent interview, explaining that once he has rocked a look in public or on social media, it’s retired for good.

His confession reignited an age-old debate about celebrity fashion standards:  Should public figures really be expected to wear something new every time they step out?

Many fans found the idea unnecessary and wasteful, arguing that repeating clothes shouldn’t be a problem, especially in an economy where most people can’t afford that kind of luxury. Others, however, defended the singer, saying the image is part of the brand.

Davido

Afrobeats superstar Davido is one star known to splurge on designer clothes just as he spends on luxurious cars and watches. During an interview on The Fitting Room Talk Show in 2024, he shared his take on outfit repetition, revealing that while he may not repeat public or on-camera outfits, he does wear clothes multiple times at home.

“I really don't repeat clothes, but things I wear at home daily, with my wife and kids, I repeat. I don't repeat stuff that would be on camera, like what I'm wearing now, I don't repeat,” he explained.

Veekee James

It comes as no surprise that Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James does not repeat her custom designs.

In 2023, she stated that while it’s not a bad idea for celebrities to repeat their clothes, outfit repetition simply doesn’t fit into her brand. Speaking on her personal style, she explained:

I will not wear an outfit I have worn to an event to another event. That is because I am a fashion designer. Every time, I get to showcase another design.
