After a string of poor results, Nigeria Professional Football League side Bayelsa United have sacked their head coach Evans Ogenyi.
Bayelsea United have gone nine league games without a win since their 2-0 home victory over Warri Wolves.
Since then, they have lost at home Sharks FC by a lone goal, fell to Taraba FC away by one goal, had a goalless draw at home to Enyimba, and Kano Pillars, lost 3-0 at Lobi FC another home draw with Akwa United, before falling again by a lone goal away at Akwa United again.
They drew 0-0 with Rangers International and lost 2-0 at Akure to Sunshine Stars.
Due to the poor results, the club has decided to cut ties with Ogenyi.
“The management has sacked coach Evans Ogenyi. He was asked to go due to poor results because since his appointment, we have not a won a single game,” the club media officer, Eddy Ohis confirmed.
Yenagoa-based club are currently 19th on the table and is set to miss out on the N80m price money that will be given to the winners of this season's league winners.
Chairman of the LMC, Shehu Dikko, disclosed this when he appeared as guest on Africa Independent Television (AIT) morning show.
"The club that wins the league this season will earn as much as N80m in revenue share, merit award, bonuses and kind and even the relegated club will earn a minimum of N55m," Dikko said.
“There are incentives for away wins, draws, attracting crowd to the games and we also provide official match balls to the teams including kit bags for the players.
"More importantly, we are seeking pool sponsorship for all 20 clubs so their finances will improve and consequently, the welfare of players as well as drive the commercialization of the clubs so as to make them attractive to investors.”
He further explained that all the 20 clubs in the league would earn various sums of money with the least being N55million that would go to the relegated clubs at the end of the season.
