Police foil attempt to kidnap monarch
The Police Command in Bayelsa on Sunday foiled a kidnap attempt on immediate past Chairman of Bayelsa Traditional Rulers Council, King Godwin Igodo.
The command’s Spokesman, ASP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa.
Members of the community alerted the police and patrol teams were deployed promptly and subsequently repelled the kidnap attempt.
"The hoodlums, in a bid to escape shot and injured one Alex ThankGod, a member of the community, in his hands and stomach,” he said.
Butwat said ThankGod was thereafter admitted at Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, and he was responding to treatment.
He assured that efforts had been intensified to arrest the hoodlums who escaped with bullet wounds through the waterways.
