Barkhad Abdi is the latest addition to upcoming sequel to 1982 "Blade Runner" movie.

The announcement was made by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove.

Abdi joins , undefined(reprising his role as Rick Deckard), Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks and Carla Juri.

To be directed by Denis Villeneuve and executive produced by Ridley Scott, its 1982 original movie is considered one of the greatest science-fiction film of all time.

Harrison Ford who starred in the 1982 sci-fi film will reprise his character as replicant hunter.

The original film starred Ford alongside Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos, and a modified film adaptation of the 1968 novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by Philip K. Dick.

About original movie

The film depicts a dystopian Los Angeles in which genetically engineered replicants, which are visually indistinguishable from adult humans, are manufactured by the powerful Tyrell Corporation.

The film will be released by Warner Bros. in North America and Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories.

Originally scheduled for a January 12, 2018 release, the sequel has been moved up to  October 6, 2017.
