Barcelona's interim president, Rafa Yuste, has revealed that the club's legal department is examining UEFA's grounds for dismissing their complaint regarding the unawarded penalty in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Atlético Madrid. Today, just hours before the return leg at the Metropolitano, the European governing body declared the complaint "inadmissible." Yuste later commented on the situation following the traditional pre-match directors' lunch.
"The legal department is assessing the reasons why UEFA did not accept our claim, and once they provide their opinion, we will act accordingly," Yuste stated regarding the complaint.
The interim president also addressed the issue with the pitch at the Metropolitano, after Hansi Flick reportedly complained to the UEFA delegate following yesterday's training session that the grass was too long and the pitch was too dry.
"There are UEFA regulations for pitches, and we want them to be respected because these are the criteria set by UEFA. The sporting department saw that the pitch needed to be in better condition than it was, consulted with UEFA, and they responded politely. I'm not worried. I believe the pitch will be in perfect condition.
I am optimistic. I had the chance to watch the training session and I saw the confidence in the players' faces that they can get the job done. We are here to achieve it," Yuste declared.
