Barcelona Star Who Played in Portugal Reveals Where He Wants to Hang Up His Boots
Raphinha, recently named Barcelona's first captain by Hansi Flick, has expressed his desire to extend his contract with the Catalan club and even finish his career as a culé player, in an interview with the RAC 1 radio program Tu diràs.
The Brazilian forward, whose current contract expires in 2028, was responding to the publicly stated interest from the club's sporting director, Deco, in extending his contractual link.
“Yes, I'm thinking about renewing. When I last renewed, I did so until 2028 with the idea that I'd be 30 or 31 and wasn't sure how I'd be performing, but given how I've started the season, I feel I have a few more years in me. I would be very happy to extend my contract and hopefully finish my career here without having to go anywhere else,” Raphinha stated.
The Brazilian's numbers at the start of this season are astounding: 11 goals scored and three assists in just seven games. The forward has been the solution to Lewandowski's departure and has been playing as a striker. The results speak for themselves.
Just last week, also on RAC 1, Deco addressed the player's future. “We are always attentive to our players so that renewals don't catch us by surprise, and then there's meritocracy, so that there are balanced contracts without problems. We will speak with him,” the sporting director declared at the time.
