Aston Villa sack Steven Gerrard immediately after Fulham defeat
English Premier League club Aston Villa have parted ways with their manager Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard left his post at the club with immediate effect on Thursday night after a 3-0 loss to Fulham at the Craven Cottage.
It was Aston Villa's sixth loss in 11 league matches in the current season, with the defeat leaving them in 17th place just one spot above the relegation zone.

Gerrard's sack was confirmed on Thursday night through an official press statement published on the Aston Villa website and on the club's official Twitter handle.
The brief statement read: "Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that Head Coach Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect.
"A club spokesman said: “We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future.”
Gerrard's tenure at Aston Villa comes to an end as the former Liverpool midfielder could not maintain the results he enjoyed when he first joined the club in November 2021.

Gerrard signed as Aston Villa manager on November 11, 2021after winning the Scottish Premiership at Rangers Football Club during the 2020/21 season.
The 42-year-old got off to an excellent start, winning his first two matches and four (4) of his first six (6) matches as Aston Villa manager.
From there, results started to dwindle as Aston Villa would often go on long stretches without victory.
As Aston Villa's manager, Gerrard was in charge of 39 matches. He won 13, drew eight (8), and lost 18 for a win rate of 33.3%.
