After getting four medals on Day 2, Team Nigeria got their hands on more on Day Three.
Ese Brume equalled her Personal Best (PB) of 6.83m to win the final of the Long Jump event. She defends her title and becomes the first athlete to win three individual gold medals in Long Jump in the history of African Senior Athletics Championships.
Nigeria’s second gold medal of the day came from Discus throw where Chioma Onyekwere threw 58.09m in the third round of the women’s final to claim victory.
Nigeria’s Chinwe Okoro threw 57.37m to take silver.
Nigeria’s women 4x100m team got the third gold medal of Day 3. The quartet of Joy Udo-Gabriel, Blessing Okagbare-Ightegunor, Tobi Amusan and Rosemary Chukwuma ran a time of 43.77s to win the final.
The men’s 4x100m got silver medal as the quartet of Ogho-Oghene Egwero, Divine Oduduru, Emmanuel Arowolo and Seye Ogunlewe.
Nigeria got two bronze medals in the quarter-mile event through Yinka Ajay and Chidi Okezie in the women and women’s event respectively.
Ajayi returned home with a time of 51.34s while Okezie clocked a time of 45.65s.
It was another bronze for Nigeria as Samuel Osadolor placed third in the men’s Decathlon.
