How Team Nigeria performed on Day One of the African Senior Athletics Championships

Team Nigeria athletes were in action in the heats of the men and women’s 100m.
Men’s 100m
In the Men’s 100m, National Champion Seye Ogunlewe won his Heat race in a time of 10.42s. It was an easy win for Ogunlewe who was the only Nigerian that won his race in the Men’s 100m.
Also in the Men’s 100m, Ogho-Oghene Egwero finished third in Heat 1 with a time of 10.52s.
Running in another Heat, Enoch Adegoke finished fourth with a time of 10.64s.
Women’s 100m
Joy Udo-Gabriel who is the National Under-20 champions ran from Lane 1 of Heat 3 of the Women's 100 and finished first in a time of 11.64s.
This was her debut in the African Championship and she will compete in the semifinal on Day 2.
Also in the Women’s 100m, Mercy Nta-Obong finished second in her own Heat race behind Egyptian runner Hamida Basant to qualify for the semi-finals.
