The tennis star turned 29 on Wednesday, August 9, the date of the start of the 2017 ITTF Challenge Open in Lagos and he is aiming to win the title to celebrate his birthday.

"On Wednesday it's going to be my birthday and come on the 13th which is the final day, I hope to use it as a birthday for Nigerians. I have prepared a lot already and as we all know success and planning work together. I have planned and prayed to God and hopefully my effort will be rewarded," Quadri said at the press conference ahead of the 2017 ITTF Challenge Open.

"For me, I think it's not all about winning but competing first and representing our country very well and also becoming good ambassadors to our country.

"I am always ready, there has never been any day of rest. I have been playing tournaments and practising for 10 months now. So I am fully ready as always.

"This year's edition will be the strongest Lagos Open considering the entries. From the main draw, there won't be anything like walkover, every match will be difficult.”

The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) have confirmed that 22 countries will compete in the Challenge.

The 4th edition of the championships is holding at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun, Stadium, Lagos.
