Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract with Arsenal, the club have announced. The deal makes the Spaniard the highest-paid manager in the Premier League. The 44-year-old tactician surpasses Oliver Glasner, who earns £12 million a season plus an additional £2 million in bonuses. Arteta's previous contract was worth £10 million per year with up to £5 million in performance-related add-ons.

"It is a privilege to commit to the future of the club and continue working with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal. This club is unique—its character and the way it makes you feel. I feel an immense sense of privilege that our journey together will continue," Arteta said after putting pen to paper. He took charge of Arsenal in December 2019 and lifted his first silverware in his debut season with an FA Cup triumph. In May, Arteta ended the Gunners' 22-year wait for the Premier League title.
