Arteta Delivers Positive Injury Update and Praises Arsenal's Response to Brighton Defeat
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his satisfaction with his team's response following the heavy defeat to Brighton before the international break. Since the resumption of club action, the Gunners have secured successive victories against Leeds and Lille, and travel to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
"We have performed very well in our last two matches. We achieved two excellent results and are now fully focused on the Nottingham Forest game, which I know will be extremely difficult. We will put in a huge effort both to score goals and keep a clean sheet. It's going to be a tough encounter. They are a very well-coached side tactically. We already know what to expect from Oliver Glasner from previous years. At home, they are capable of creating a unique atmosphere and momentum, but we are prepared for that," Arteta said.
The Spaniard also provided encouraging updates regarding several players recovering from injury.
"Things are progressing well with Piero Hincapié. Considering the workload he's handling, it won't take long, though he might need another week or so. Zubimendi looks much better. Even today, his condition had significantly improved. We have one more training session tomorrow and then we'll assess whether he can play against Forest. We'll monitor how things develop. Tzolis' recovery is also going very well. I hope he will be available in a few weeks.
Next week, Saliba is due to undergo another MRI scan to check on his healing process. So far, all the indications have been very, very positive. It will be fantastic if we can count on him again."
Arteta also stressed that it makes no difference to him how his side finds the back of the net—whether from open play or set-pieces.
"We get criticised for scoring goals, regardless of how we score them. The team has shown great attacking play. We've scored some beautiful goals. The value of every goal is exactly the same. We need to be a team that scores in a variety of ways and causes problems for our opponents."
The Spaniard also assured that the club will retake the official squad photo after an image was published earlier this week without Saliba. Arteta explained that the photoshoot had previously been postponed three times for various reasons, but this particular shoot had to go ahead due to commercial commitments.
