Gunners miss chance to go top with draw against Tottenham

Arsenal were unable to capitalise on Manchester City’s goalless draw away at Aston Villa after settling for a 1-1 draw at home to Tottenham.

Arsenal started the brighter side before Spurs grew into the game and opened scoring in the first half through Harry Kane.

The Gunners defence was caught napping by a through pass from left back Danny Rose which left Kane with enough space to finish past an onrushing Petr Cech.

Even with a goal lead, Spurs were in complete control of the game and were dominant in possession.

The Gunners also started well in the second half and missed a chance to level as Hugo Lloris saved a shot from Joel Campbell, the first Arsenal’s real chance.

Olivier Giroud could have also leveled for Arsenal on several occasions through set pieces.

His header from a Mesut Ozil freekick hit the cross-bar before going over, he also headed wide from a corner with the goal gaping.

Arsene Wenger withdrew Campbell for Kieran Gibbs who found Arsenal’s equaliser with 13 minutes remaining.

The left back playing in a forward role due to injuries in the Arsenal squad met an Ozil through ball and struck it pass Lloris.
