Fans raise £2,000 for 'Wenger out' banner
Irate fans have grown in recent weeks following their Premier League title collapses and the 10-2 aggregate thrashing in the hands of Bayern Munich in the second round of the Champions League.
The pressure has mounted on Wenger following their exit from the second round of the Champions League for the seventh consecutive season.
A group of supporters, led by Chris Butler, have set up a page on as they seek for to fund their anti-Wenger campaign.
They recently revealed a plan to have a ‘Wenger out’ ban fly across the Emirate during a game similar to what Manchester United fans did during David Moyes’s era as manager of the club in March 2014.
Calls for support for the banner has raised £2,090 out of £3,000 which the organisers are targeting.
“We are raising funds to help with demonstrations, advertisements and banners to encourage the owners of Arsenal, to remove Arsene Wenger from the position of manager,” their statement on the JustGiving page reads.
“He has constantly delivered unsatisfactory results, and lifelong Gooners are fed up.”
Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth-place Liverpool with two games in hand.
They have however booked a trip to Wembley for the semi-final of the FA Cup against Manchester City.
