Arsenal Bolsters Defense Amid Injury Crisis, Signs England International

English football champions Arsenal have secured the services of defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa in a deal worth at least £50 million (approximately €58.35 million). British media reports suggest the 28-year-old center-back is the defensive solution manager Mikel Arteta has been seeking since the end of last season.

Konsa, who recently represented England at the World Cup, is expected to join his new club after completing a medical. With William Saliba sidelined long-term due to a back injury and Jurrien Timber also unavailable, Konsa is likely to feature at center-back alongside Gabriel Magalhaes.

Konsa played 48 matches across all competitions for Aston Villa in the 2025/2026 season, helping them end a 30-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League. Konsa initially joined Aston Villa from Brentford in 2019.
