Arman Tsarukyan put an end to his rivalry with Georgio Poulos, defeating him in their rematch at the RAF 7 event.
After their initial encounter ended in chaos, with Tsarukyan taking Poulos down and a brawl erupting on stage, the UFC lightweight title contender maintained a much more civil tone this time. The bout started with limited action, but a strong wrestling exchange towards the end allowed Tsarukyan to take the lead as time expired.
Tsarukyan caught Poulos and executed a gut-wrench throw for four points, concluding the match with a 9-3 score. Post-fight, both athletes showed mutual respect, with Tsarukyan even crediting Poulos for promoting the rematch, which secured them main event status.
"I can't lose because they give me so much energy," Tsarukyan stated after his win. "I truly appreciate everyone. They know who is number one and they believe in me. RAF champion, UFC champion. He told me he would pay me my $10,000. I'm not a freestyle wrestler, but I'm getting used to it. Thanks also to Georgio, because without him, we wouldn't have been the main event and made something big. We did our job very well."
Following his victory, Tsarukyan set his sights on a former American Top Team training partner, hoping to settle their score on the RAF mat.
"There's one idiot, we wrestled in the gym, but I don't see him there anymore," Tsarukyan said. "Colby Covington, stop talking nonsense, let me kick your ass."
