Argentine Goalkeeper Slams Thomas Tuchel After Final Qualification: "You Can't Do Something Like That"

Thomas Tuchel faced a wave of criticism after the match between England and Argentina. Following unflattering remarks from former English stars, Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez also questioned the 52-year-old coach's tactics in the World Cup semi-final.

Argentina has secured its second consecutive World Cup final appearance, where they will defend their title, following a dramatic 2-1 victory over England. The match in Atlanta had long seemed destined for an English triumph.

Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the 55th minute, after which Thomas Tuchel's side attempted to hold onto their slender lead. Instead of pushing for a second goal, they retreated, ceding more space to their opponents. This approach ultimately backfired.

First, Enzo Fernández equalized in the 85th minute with a fantastic long-range strike, and then Lautaro Martínez sealed their place in the final with a header in the 92nd minute.

Criticism Leveled at England's Coach

Thomas Tuchel's decision to defend the lead drew criticism from figures such as Wayne Rooney, Alan Shearer, and Chris Sutton. Emiliano Martínez echoed similar sentiments. "Sometimes, when you're winning, you still have to attack. You can't change your game plan. They did exactly that and brought on more defenders," stated the Argentine goalkeeper.

The World Cup now has its final two matches remaining. England will contest the third-place playoff against France on Saturday evening. The grand final is scheduled for the following day, with Argentina facing Spain.
