Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa has insisted he is not worried about his job and feels no fear of being sacked, despite the Cottagers sitting bottom of the Premier League table with just two points from their opening six games. According to reports in the English media, the Spaniard faces must-win clashes in his next two fixtures against newly-promoted Hull City and Coventry if he is to stay in charge.

"I am focused on my players, on my team. That is the most important thing. It is not about me – it is about the club, the players, and the fans. We are waiting for that match where the performance brings the result. For me, it has been a normal week where we worked hard and prepared for a tough game against a very difficult opponent," Arbeloa said.

Asked whether he feels the backing of the squad regarding his tactical plans, the Spaniard replied: "They showed it for long spells against Ipswich. We also showed it against Manchester United and Liverpool. In my view, we have to try and maintain that level across all 90 minutes – that is key. I saw the players' commitment in how they trained. They are fully focused on tomorrow's match. The most important thing is the performance of my players.

"It is not about my future. As I said before, it is about the club and my players. They are looking for their reward and want a match where they can earn a win for the supporters – they deserve it for the backing they provide. It is important for all of us to win tomorrow. I really do not think it is about me.

"I never worry about my job. I feel no fear. You cannot be a manager if you are afraid. You have to work, make decisions, and instill confidence in your players. I am very pleased with a lot of what they are doing. I know it is not easy for them. The issue is not my job, it is Fulham's position. That is what matters most. Of course, only six games have been played, but the reality is we need points."
