For the first time ever, malicious software have been found in the App Store

For the first time ever, malicious programs have been found in the Apple App Store in the first large-scale attack on the popular mobile software platform.

Apple made this disclosure on Sunday, announcing that it had begun a cleanup of the Store in response to several cyber security companies reportedly finding a malicious program named Apple which was embedded in hundreds of legit apps.

Apple’s review process for apps that go into its store are very stringent and this will be the very first time that a large number of malicious software programs will be found on the store.

Before this attack, a total of just five malicious apps have ever been found in the App Store since its inception.
