Corbo hails Osimhen for penalty kick giveaway
Italian journalist Antonio Corbo has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for showing generosity to his teammate in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League clash against Ajax.
Osimhen made his return to the Napoli team on Wednesday after being out with a hamstring injury for several weeks, coming in as a 50th-minute substitute in place of Giacomo Raspadori.
The Nigeria international scored on his return to action for the Partenopei, chasing down the Ajax defence and capitalising on their mistake to score the last goal of Napoli's 4-2 victory.
Kvaratskhelia scores from the penalty with Osimhen's blessings
However, Osimhen could have scored earlier in the game when Napoli won a penalty in the 60th minute after Tanguy Ndombele was fouled in the area.
Instead of taking the spot-kick as the designated penalty taker, Osimhen chose to allow Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to take the penalty which he did and scored.
Following his generosity, Italian columnist Corbo was full of praise for Osimhen, stating that the gesture showed by the Super Eagles striker was indeed commendable.
As reported by areanapoli Corbo said in his column 'il Graffio': "On the other hand, Osimhen's gesture was commendable, he offered the ball to Kvaratskhelia who asked him to take the penalty."
Osimhen lost the last penalty kick he took, a first-half effort against Liverpool in their UEFA Champions League season-opener.
The Nigerian striker suffered an injury in the same match, playing only 41 minutes before being taken off for a hamstring injury.
Osimhen would hope to continue his scoring run again when Napoli host Bologna at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday, October 16.
