Lamine Yamal continues to etch his name into history with the Spanish national team. The prodigious talent of "La Roja" was named in head coach Luis de la Fuente's starting eleven for the monumental clash against Portugal (1-0) in the Round of 16 at the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. With this appearance, the teenager officially broke an unprecedented record in his country's annals.

Yamal became the first player in the entire history of the Spanish national team to start two World Cup knockout stage matches before turning 19. The Barcelona winger solidifies his status as an indispensable attacking force for the Iberians, having also started the previous match against Austria.

This match also witnessed an incredible generational clash on the pitch in Texas. When Portugal's superstar Cristiano Ronaldo made his debut and scored his first World Cup goal back in 2006, Lamine Yamal wasn't even born yet. Now, 20 years later, the young Spaniard faced his idol and emerged victorious.
