Another Blow for Tottenham: Captain Sidelined for the Rest of the Season

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero is set to miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury, according to English media reports. The Argentine defender is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks after sustaining the injury during Sunday afternoon's defeat to Sunderland, following a collision with the Black Cats' goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. Romero's primary goal will be to recover fully in time for the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada, where the "Albiceleste" will defend their world title.

Romero was handed the captain's armband before the start of the current campaign, but in recent months, he has repeatedly clashed with the club's management over poor results.

This latest setback is another significant blow for Tottenham and their new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who debuted yesterday at the helm of the London club with the aforementioned loss to the Black Cats, a result that plunged the team into the relegation zone. On Saturday, they will host an ambitious Brighton side, who continue to harbor dreams of European football next season.
