The two McLaren drivers were locked in a tight battle for fourth position in Saturday's sprint at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. On the final lap, Norris went for a risky dive down the inside at Turn 5, resulting in mid-corner contact between the two cars. The collision forced Piastri into retirement, while the Brit dropped down to eighth. The stewards decided against taking any further action, ruling that both drivers shared responsibility for the incident.

Despite initial frustration among the team's leadership, the mood improved significantly during Sunday's Grand Prix. Norris finished in fourth place and even offered to assist Piastri in his successful overtake on Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton for fifth.

"Conversations on this topic are not entirely over, but there is more we can do to become even more united and stronger as a team. I am pleased that at a certain stage of the race, Lando embraced that very mindset. This is the attitude I expect as team principal, and what the 1,000 employees at McLaren expect from our drivers," Stella stated after the race.
